Souderton Area
During the month of October the Key Club of Souderton Area High School organized its second annual Roses Sale. The fundraiser took place during lunches and gave students the opportunity to order one or more gorgeous rose for their friends or significant other. The opportune timing of the sale coincided with Souderton’s homecoming dance, adding an extra incentive for students to buy a rose. Based on last year’s sell-out, our club planned to sell even more roses this year and decided to order a total of 180 roses! Members signed up to sell roses during their lunch period; thankfully, our Key Club is blessed with a multitude of willing and active members, helping events like this to run smoothly and effectively. Unfortunately, the first few days of the sale were slow to start and more than 100 roses were left to sell in the last two days. A final push to sell roses by our Key Club Advisor, Alison Lindsay, was met with tremendous success and only thirty roses remained at the end of the last day. This excess ended up being the perfect amount to make up for the roses that were damaged during delivery. The Kiwanis chapter associated with Souderton’s Key Club also needed a couple dozen roses for an event they were organizing. For the second year in a row, our Roses Sale was a marvelous triumph; overall, almost $100 dollars was collected! The proceeds were then used to purchase the items needed for Souderton’s next service project—our club made and shipped much-needed fleece blankets to an orphanage in Ukraine. The Key Club of Souderton Area High School happily looks forward to next year’s Roses Sale!
