Quaker Valley

On Tuesday November 1, 2011, Quaker Valley High School held their Second Annual Empty Bowls Dinner to benefit three local area food banks. Held again this year during the fall parent-teacher conferences, the event was a resounding success.
Guests, from local families to teachers to senior citizens, could, for a $10 donation, get a dinner of soup, rolls, an apple, and, for desert, ice cream. All of the food was donated by Sewickley restaurants.
From 12 until 7, members of the Quaker Valley Key Club served soup and ice cream to the many members of the community that came out. The Tomato-Basil Bisque was a popular choice, as was Chicken Dumpling. The Key Club Worked also with the Student Council to coordinate a canned food drive to correspond with the dinner. By the end of the night almost $2,000 had been raised to help fill the food banks, and just in time for Thanksgiving, too!
