Abington

In the month of October, Abington Senior High School Key Club held its annual Breast Cancer Awareness football game on Friday, October 14th. Each year Key Club sponsors the Breast Cancer football game, and this year the title of it was THINK PINK. The weeks leading up to the annual Breast Cancer football game, Abington Key Club prepared for the event by painting posters and running announcements to advertise the game. This year, the t-shirts  were dark grey with THINK PINK written on the front in pink lettering, the date, and both team names on the back of the shirt. The t-shirts were sold to students, and teachers at the High School. The week of the game, Key Club members sold THINK PINK t-shirts at lunch periods, and before and after school for $10.00. Along with selling t-shirts, Key Club members were involved with the event by signing up to help during the game. This year, we had over 60 members volunteer during the game. Members sold t-shirts, baked goods, candy, and breast cancer bracelets. In addition to Key Club, we had help from 11 other school clubs during the game. Clubs helped by selling candy and other snacks throughout the game. By the end of the game on October 14th, Key Club had sold every baked good and every single t-shirt that was ordered, and with the help of the other clubs, we were able to raise $4700.00. The money raised will be donated to the Breathing Room, Abington Hospital Cancer Center, the Terry Hanafin Scholarship Fund, and the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.  All in all, we were very pleased with the success of the Think Pink Breast Cancer Awareness football game, and were very excited to raise a huge sum of money for the cause. Although it took a lot of work and time to make the game a success, our committed members worked together to ensure the game would not only be successful but fun and enjoyable for everyone.
